August Monday in AXA :)

  • Today is a special monday for most of the people in Anguilla, St-Martin/St-Maarten and a few of the neighboring islands.

WHY??

Because , it is “AUGUST MONDAY“, a “ONCE A YEAR” MONDAY! Today might be one of the QUIETEST day in St-Martin/St-Maarten whereas it is definetely THE BUSIEST ONE on the island of Anguilla.  It is from far the craziest beach party of this area of the Caribbean is currently happening right now!

Traditionally, it is the first monday of August when people from St-Martin/St-Maarten cross over to visit their Anguillan neighbors and join together on the beautiful Sandy Ground beach in Anguilla for an intense day of partying, bbqing, concerts… The day starts with a “Jouvert” (= early morning kind of Carnival parade where everybody let loose, that is to say “the party before the party”) then ends up on the beach in the morning to officially begin the festivities!

  • Aujourd’hui, est un lundi spécial pour la plupart des habitants d’Anguille, de St-Martin/St-Maarten et de quelques-unes des îles voisines.

POURQUOI??

Car, c’est “AUGUST MONDAY“, un lundi  “UNIQUE DANS L’ANNEE”! Alors qu’aujourd’hui est probablement le jour LE PLUS CALME à St-Martin/St-Maarten, c’est définitivement la journée LA PLUS POPULAIRE sur l’île d’Anguille. C’est de loin la plus folle des beach party de cette région de la Caraïbe qui se déroule actuellement!

Traditionnellement, c’est le premier lundi du mois d’ Août que les habitants de St-Martin/St-Maarten rendent visite à leurs voisins d’Anguille et se réunissent sur la magnifique plage de Sandy Ground à Anguille pour une intense journée de fête, barbecue, concerts, etc … La journée commence avec un “Jouvert” (= défilé de carnaval aux aurores où tout le monde se lâche, autant vous dire «la fête avant la fête») qui s’achève sur la plage le matin pour commencer officiellement les festivités!

Maybe you do not know its name… maybe you do not know it is located in Sint-Maarten/Saint-Martin… maybe you do not even imagine that it could be real…. BUT IT IS!

Let me introduce you to one of the most spectacular airports on the planet: Princess Juliana International Airport… commonly referred to as “SXM” its international code.

  • Car je pense que vous auriez souhaité être informés à l’avance… :) Jetez un coup d’oeil sur la vidéo ci-dessous!

Peut-être que vous ne connaissez pas son nom … peut-être que vous ne savez pas qu’il est situé à Sint-Maarten/Saint-Martin … peut-être n’avez-vous même pas imaginer que ça puisse être réel…. MAIS CA L’EST!

Permettez-moi de vous présenter l’un des aéroports les plus spectaculaires de la planète: l’Aéroport International Princess Juliana … plus communément appelé “SXM” son code international.

Bad weather makes think of… / Le mauvais temps me rappelle…

… LONDON / LONDRES !

  • The WEATHER is an eternal topic of conversation for British people. Especially BAD WEATHER. Which is quite unsurprising as they experience a lot of it… just like us in friendly Saint-Martin this whole weekend!

So I’m taking this opportunity to show SOLIDARITY towards the UK people that live continuously with this kind of “rubbish” weather. Those guys definetely do not have a warm weather but they have the SUN in their hearts… just like us in the Friendly Island!

  • Le TEMPS (météo) est un éternel sujet de conversation pour le peuple britannique. Le MAUVAIS TEMPS surtout. Ce qui est peu surprenant car ils le subissent lourdement… tout comme nous à Saint-Martin ce week-end!

Je profite donc de cette occasion pour exprimer ma SOLIDARITE envers le peuple du Royaume-Uni qui vit en permanence avec ce temps “de merde”. Ces gars-là n’ont pas un temps de rêve, mais ils ont le SOLEIL dans leur cœur… tout comme nous dans la Friendly Island!

Big up to this A-MA-ZING city, to the UK people, the UK lovers…  and of course to my SXM people in the UK!
